Some people say summer is the time when teachers should get more pay．But not everyone is grateful to teachers for keeping kids occupied between June and August．Washington state representative Liz Pike has written a Face book post and responded to teachers’ complaints of rising cost of living．After reading her post，I feel that Liz Pike should rethink her criticism of public school teaching．

Many of us teachers would certainly like teaching to be more like the private school．It’s nothing wrong with fair pay for fair performance．Liz Pike is very angry that teachers want raises even while test scores are dropping．Well，how are they supposed to have discipline in the classroom when our hands are tied and we can hardly do anything with naughty students?

Teachers would love to be able to turn education around and improve student performance．But we can’t，and we should not suffer for it．Unlike private school businesses．public schools cannot turn away “customers”．A private school business serves customers who walk through the door of their own free will，while public schools have to educate students who only attend school because laws say they must．

She says those teachers who are uninspired by a lack of a cost of living increases should give up teaching．Is this the message that she thinks should be sent to the students? Does she mean “If you love teaching，you’ll shut up and not stand up for yourself”?  That is ridiculous and stupid!

No matter what type of store you walk into-from the Apple Store to Wal-Mart- you’11 find all types of carefully designed tricks that get you to spend more in ways you may never notice．

It shouldn’t be surprising that the main sense that retail(零售)stores go after is your sense of sight，which has a big impact on what we decide to buy，and how long we’re willing to stay in a store．Colors，for example，influence our shopping choices because they are often associated with sales and inspire people to take action．

Retailers also create simple navigation roadblocks．For example，people often go to a store just to pick up a single item like milk，but milk is in the back of the store．You’re forced to walk through and see everything before grabbing your one item．Chances are，unless you put a blinder on when you’re walking through that you’ll grab another item or two．

All those carefully designed stores aren’t structured just to catch your eyeballs with shiny objects．They’re also about forcing you to touch more things．Why? Because touching tends to lead to purchasing for most people．When people touch things they’re more likely to buy them．

You might not even notice it，but what you smell when you’re shopping can impact the choices you make to a strange degree．When we smell something like baby powder，we feel all warm toward babies，we just happen to be in the baby department，and we spend a little more money．Odors and scents have a strong tie to memory，thus indirectly affecting our view of a product’s quality as a whole．

The sounds you hear in a store also help it produce a better and overall image．A lot of retailers pipe in music specific to a store．Though different forms of music are adopted，they are creating a feeling of getting you to feel but not think things．
