附: 听力材料

(Text 1)

W: So which mobile phone are you buying with your birthday money, Joe?

M: The Vox 55. It’s lovely but I have to ask my parents for thirty pounds. It costs seventy-five.

(Text 2)

M: Why can’t you come to the gym today?

W: I’ve got to meet my mum in town.

M: Is she taking you shopping?

W: Actually I’ve got a toothache and Mum’s coming with me to the dentist.

(Text 3)

M: Excuse me. I’m looking for 115 Washington Street.

W: Well this is 120, so it’s not far from here.

M: Thanks. So many buildings around here don’t have numbers.

(Text 4)

M: The new T-shirts should arrive today. If I’m pleased with the quality, I think I’ll order fifty more.

W: Do we really need to order more?

M: With the yearly autumn sale starting next month, business should be on the rise.

W: That’s true.

(Text 5)

W: Would you like some wine in that, father?

M: Well, my doctor says I shouldn’t. But thank God my will is weak.

(Text 6)

W: What about this jacket? It’s my favorite.

M: Yes, and it’s nice and warm. But it’s such a light yellow color, and it’ll get very dirty during your school trip. Why don’t you take your mother’s green one? It’s really comfortable and it’s got lots of pockets.

W: Yes, but it doesn’t fit me very well, as it’s too big. I’ll take the blue one. It is suitable though it’s a bit old.

M: OK, if you prefer.

(Text 7)

M: Hi, Julie! How was your day at the theme park last Sunday? Were there too many people?

W: Yeah, but we didn’t mind too much because we were expecting that. At least we had sunny weather though. I know when you went, it rained all day!

M: Yeah. It was even worse with strong wind blowing! And what did you think of the food?

W: Well, We had heard that the food there was terrible and expensive so we brought a packed lunch with us! But I saw some people drop litter. That’s what I can hardly stand.

(Text 8)

W: Hi, Mr. Adams?

M: Ah, yes. You must be Kelly. Thanks for coming. It is hard to find a person taking care of the baby on a Friday night.

W: Well, I like watching kids, and I need the extra money.

M: Well, I heard you were the most affordable in the area, and …

W: Uh, well, I’d like to talk to you about my pay increase.

M: Pay increase?

W: You see, Mr. Adams. My mother says I should charge more per child since I do cook and clean your house while you’re away.

M: Oh, I see. So, what do you have in mind?

W: Well, as I see it, I’d like to ask a dollar more per child per hour, and overtime after midnight.

M: Ah, you must be joking, aren’t you?

(Text 9)

W: Hi. Welcome back to Susan’s Gardening Show. We’re ready to take our next caller, Mark from Seattle. So, how can we help you?

M: Uh, about five years ago, my wife got a beautiful climbing rose bush. Anyway, the rose plant is dead.

W: Really? Generally that rose is able to stand difficult conditions.

M: Yeah, I know. Well, about a week ago I was using some chemicals to try to get rid of some terrible grass in the yard and …

W: Did you drop them on the roses?

M: Well, not exactly. I placed the chemical container down near the roses, and the container must have gotten knocked over, and the chemicals went into the ground near the rose bush.

W: You’ve made a big mistake.

M: I know. Is there anything I can do to bring the bush to life?

W: Not unless you’re a magician.

M: Can you recommend a quick-growing plant that can take its place?

W: Unless your wife goes on vacation for a couple of years.

M: I dare not tell my wife. Oh no! She’s coming in from outside ...

W: One final word: Hide the chemicals. Thanks, Mark. Let’s move on to the next caller.

(Text 10)

W: Hi Tom. This is Lisa. I need your help, quickly. I went to the airport this morning in order to meet my friend Adam. I wanted to drive him to his house so I borrowed my father’s car. I usually go to the airport by bus because the airport car park is so expensive. However, I knew Adam would be tired since it was a long flight. The traffic was very heavy so I was nearly late. I went to the machine for a ticket when I parked. I pressed the button to get a ticket but it didn’t give me one. I pressed it again and this time it gave me a ticket. I put it in my wallet without looking at it and ran into the airport.

When we came out, I went to pay. The car park man who was sitting beside a bike said I had to pay three hundred pounds because the car had been there for two weeks! The ticket machine had printed the wrong date. He didn’t believe there was anything wrong with the ticket so we had to leave the car and come home on the bus. I don’t know what I’m going to tell my father as I borrowed the car without asking him. What am I going to do? Ring me as soon as you hear the message.
