Text 1
W: Excuse me, where could I board the train to Chengdu?
M: It was supposed to be Platform 4, but it is under repair now, just as Platform 5. So you should go to Platform 3 instead.
Text 2
M: Good morning, how may I help you?
W: Hi, I’m new here. And I want to open an account and deposit some money. Here is my ID card.
Text 3
M: Would you mind if I opened the window? We need some fresh air.
W: We also need to keep it quiet in here.
Text 4
W: You can wait here if you want to, or you might be more comfortable in another room.
M: No, I’m fine here, thank you. And the headmaster will be here any minute, right?
W: Yes, I think so. Could I get you something to drink?
Text 5
M: Anne, do you like the soup?
W: It tastes like something’s missing.
M: But I followed every step in the recipe. What could have gone wrong?
W: It’s actually not that bad. Considering this is the first time you made it, a bit more salt and pepper would add some flavor.
第二节长对话,读两遍
Text 6
W: Did you have a good Christmas?
M: Yeah, it was wonderful. We had Christmas dinner on the beach.
W: What? It must have been freezing!
M: No, not at all. We flew to Australia to visit my brother and his family. They’re living in Sydney.
W: You lucky thing! Celebrating Christmas on the beach? That’s quite unusual!
M: Actually, having Christmas dinner on the beach is something of Australian tradition. A lot of people do it. The beach we went to was packed. It was great fun. There was even a guy dressed as Santa Claus and you know what?
W: What?
M: He went surfing. It was so funny.
Text 7
M: In your latest movie, you played a role of a painter. How do you choose your roles?
W: I usually do a movie because there is one or two scenes I really want to do, scenes that are different and unpredictable. I think it’s important to do movies that make people think.
M: If you were not acting, what would you do?
W: I would want to write movie scripts. But if I had to have a regular job to support myself, I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else but on a movie set.
M: What do you mean?
W: I mean, I would like to work in props, costumes, or the other department, something like that.
M: What about your real life hobbies?
W: Well, I read a lot of books, and I write, too.
Text 8
M: Hi, Jane, you don’t look very happy.
W: You’re right. I’m NOT happy.
M: What’s up?
W: It’s our school’s stupid course selection website. It’s hard to get into the system to register for classes.
M: Have you tried many times?
W: Yeah, I’ve been trying it in the past 48 hours! And it seems that every course I want to take is already full. How come you never seem to have this problem?
M: The system usually opens at 7 a.m. I’m up at 6 and by 7 I’m sitting in front of my computer, ready to go. Maybe you should try this approach if you really want to make it..
W: Me? Up at 6 o’clock? You’ve gotta be joking! I’d be better off staying up all night!
Text 9
M: We’ll be arriving at the Weddy Museum in 10 minutes. If you have any questions about today’s tour, please don’t hesitate to ask.
W: Hi, I have a question.
M: Sure, what is it?
W: Are we allowed to take pictures once we are inside the museum?
M: That’s a good question. It’s important to know the museum policy does not allow photography in the galleries. You are also not allowed to use any video cameras to film the exhibitions. However, you are welcome to take photos in the reception hall and the parks outside the museum.
W: What about our lunch break? When will we start for lunch?
M: That is scheduled for noon, near the food court. And we’ll meet back at the bus at one o’clock sharp.
Text 10
This is FM 101, your favorite music station in Sichuan. I’m your host, Miranda Zhang. Before we get to the music, I’d like to read a letter from Jason, a faithful listener in Mianyang.
“Dear Miranda, I’m a 35-year- old male. I’d like to know how to ask not to be addressed as SIR in a restaurant setting. I am working for a company which has many branches all over the country, so I travel often, I also eat alone. Every time I go into a restaurant, waiters and waitresses always call me Sir, and they always begin their service by using “Sir”. I know the waiters and waitresses are being polite. But after the initial contact, I’m uncomfortable with the use of SIR, which makes me feel older. How can I ask the waiters and waitresses not to call me sir? ”
Now, listeners, if you have anything to say to Jason, our lines are open. We’ll share your words of wisdom right after the first piece of music of today.
