M: Me too! I’m going to have a burger!
W: You had a burger yesterday. You can’t eat burgers every day.
M: Why not? I love burgers and chips.
W: Yeah, but they’re not healthy, Jack. You’ll get fat and you won’t be fit enough to play on the football team any more.
M: Really? Oh, well, maybe I’ll have something else. What are you going to have?
W: I’m going to have pasta with tomato sauce and a side salad.

M: You’ll be as rich as a king.
W: You know, I just work for my independence. I don’t want to be a burden to the family.
M: I know. I was joking. By the way, have you finished your history paper yet?
W: Yes, I’ve typed it.
M: I wonder how you can manage the time between study and work. Aren’t you tired?
W: No, I feel more energetic. I’m more confident about my life and future.
M: Sounds reasonable. Why don’t I have a try?
W: There’s still another position in the store. If you’re interested, I’ll put in a good word for you with the boss.
M: That’s great. Thanks a lot.

M: Hello, Linda. What are you reading?
W: Hi, Jim. I am reading one of Shakespeare’s plays, the Merchant of Venice.
M: Is it one of his four tragedies?
W: No, one of his comedies. I can’t think of anything more enjoyable than reading this book.
M: You must have read it many times.
W: Yes. Jim, do you like reading books?
M: Yes, but it is difficult for me to read in English.
W: All things are difficult before they are easy. Reading can be fun if you really get into it.
M: Don’t you like reading other books besides literary works?
W: Yes, I spent most of my leisure time reading books on a variety of subjects. I want to make full use of every minute.

It’s been so warm in the United States this year, especially in March. That national records weren’t just broken. There were deep-fried.
Temperatures in the lower 48 states were 8.6 degrees above normal for March and 6 degrees higher than average for the first three months of the year. That is higher than the old records.
“Everybody has this uneasy feeling. This is unusual. This is not good,” said Jerry Meehl, a climate scientist. “It’s a guilty pleasure. You’re out enjoying this nice March weather, but you know it’s not a good thing.”
It’s not just March.
“It’s been on for several months,” said Jake Crouch, a climate scientist. Scientists say an unusual combination of several weather patterns, including La Nina, was the direct cause of the warm weather.
While individual events can’t be blamed on global warming, Crouch said this is like the extremes that are supposed to get more frequent because of manmade climate change from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil.
In March, at least 7,775 weather stations across the nation broke daily high temperature records and another 7,517 broke records for night-time heat. Combined, that’s more high temperature records broken in one month than ever before, Crouch said.
